BECOMING YOUR MISTRESS
I’ll never be just one type of person and you can never put me in a box. My last job before becoming your Mistress was as a trust and estate paralegal- I loved probate procedure and also specialized in tax law. I commuted by bicycle to my female-run law firm in pencil skirts, conservative flats, button up shirts, and glasses. I led a double life even before becoming your Mistress. As a paralegal, I hid my tattoos and minded my Ps and Qs with probate clerks. No one had any idea that after work, I stripped off my office attire and traded pencil skirts for leather pants. I’d get on my motorcycle and go to band practice at night. Only my neighbors really saw the wild dichotomy of my life.
My worlds did not collide. One might wonder why I always lead a “responsible” life by day and then ran amuck at night and used vacation days to tour with my former bands. I’ve never been the type to give myself to a rock ’n’ roll lifestyle with no security. I’m like a horse that wants to run free but always leads herself back to the stable at night. Living a life with no health insurance or retirement savings is just not for me. But living a life without excitement and wild times is also totally inconceivable.
I was at a crossroads when I got replaced by a computer program that could draft estate plans. I have known sex workers throughout my life as it’s not an uncommon profession for those in the creative arts. Sex work became normalized to me the more sex workers I met. I was in a band with a sex worker, so when I was let go at my job, she offered to get me a gig at her place.
It became immediately clear that sex work was my true calling. I was instantly in love and was able to sustain a vibrant life versus barely getting by on an entry-level paralegal’s salary. I was also able to give up nine to five hours which gave me more time to be creative and travel. This was in late 2015 and I’m amazed at how far I’ve come. Being in the Bay area during my formative years was an incredible opportunity as I was able to be mentored by the best Dommes and Tantrikas in the world. I also had access to incredible dungeons and magical tantra spaces to utilize until I built my very own dungeon boudoir called Electric Ladyland.
Many wild times were had at Electric Ladyland with its purple walls and mirrored ceiling. I had a custom bondage bed and every sex toy and contraption one could imagine. I parted with most of my vast kink collection when I decided to move back to my hometown of Manhattan. I kept the best and left the rest- the Bay was too sleepy for this Mistress. Even with less gear and space, I’ve never regretted my decision to move on as New York City is where my heart is happiest. I took a leap of faith on my sex worker journey and it worked out.
Every step forward has led to more success and serenity as I am my most authentic self today. I am pretty out as a sex worker, yet I still lead a double life in a few ways- don’t forget, what I do is illegal and shunned by most of society. I’ve become very creative with evading questions about what I do for work. Sometimes I do have to give an answer. For example, to the IRS, I am a performer (who most certainly pays her taxes) and to most of my family, I work in music and help run a friend’s record store in the West Village.
However, I’m not leading double life with you. You know who I really am and it’s liberating. You get to share in my passion for perversion and accept me for who I am as I accept you. I love being the keeper of your secrets and understand the compartmentalization of your darkest desires. I don’t find it a shame that we live in a society where we have to keep parts of ourselves secret; having secrets is exciting. May we all enjoy the full spectrum of our deepest desires and find the perfect outlet...with your Mistress, whose lips are sealed!
Love your Mistress,
Ramona Ryder
P.S. I’m totally into office role play.
